JoshChairman Joshua Richardson is a 27 year Army veteran with a deep interest in history. Although both his grandfathers served in the Navy during WWII, it was his son who sparked his interest in submarines and the initiation of the effort to bring the USS Clamagore to East TN. His plan is to prevent the Clamagore from being sunk as a reef or sold for scrap by raising enough money to restore and transport the WWII built submarine to East TN to serve as the centerpiece of an East Tennessee Military History Museum to honor all the men and women from East TN who served this nation since the 1700’s.

Marlin2Vice Chairman Marlin Helms served on two fast attack submarines as a nuclear plant operator. He is the Smoky Mountain Submarine Veterans Base Commander, the United States Submarine Veterans Inc Central Region District Five Commander. Marlin’s interest in bringing the USS Clamagore to East Tennessee is not just having a Cold War Submarine memorial but to add an educational opportunity to the community as submarines then and now represent one of the most technologically dense military platforms in our inventory.



Evonne2Treasurer Evonne M. Kautz, EA is an Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the IRS, and has a specialty niche in serving the Military in all tax matters. She also provides bookkeeping, payroll, and tax filing services to small businesses, specializing in veteran-owned entities. Her previous work experience includes 15 years in corporate and personal finance and she is a candidate for the CFP designation with completed coursework at UT. She is married to a Navy veteran and works to support the military community in Knoxville and the southeast region, throughout the country, and around the globe.


Ryan2Chairman of the Preservation and Maintenance committee Ryan Smith is a retired submarine officer who served as the executive officer of the Nuclear Power training unit (MYS626) in Charleston SC. Ryan served on two fast attack submarines as a division officer then department head.



John2Chairman of the Transportation and Towing Committee, Captain John Farmer is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and an active passenger vessel captain. His most recent consulting task was the complete redesign of a 75-Ton Hydraulic Cable Puller for a company in South Korea. He has over 40 years of marine experience both power and sail Inland and Offshore. John was president of a computer consulting company for 13 years and is a retired Lt. Col., Air Guard Electronics Maintenance Officer with 30 years in a Radar Squadron.


Mason2Chairman Finance committee Mason Bercaw is a Financial Advisor in Knoxville with 7 years experience in the industry. He has experience in Individual and Business Retirement Planning, Tax Savings, Education Planning, Insurance Services, and Estate Planning. Mason is a graduate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a Major in Finance and Minor/Collateral in Economics.



Chip2Chairman of the Building committee Chip Heard John T. Heard Jr. (Chip) – A Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Tennessee with over 37 years of experience in governmental and private industrial and power processes. The nephew of Jack F. Heard (USN) the eighth commander of the Clamagore from 1956-1958.



eddiePublic Relations Edie Clemons is a community volunteer serving in a public affairs role of connecting opinion leaders to worthy causes, with a focus on veterans causes. She is an American Legion Auxiliary member, serving as Chaplain. Edie has been involved in activities for HonorAir Knoxville, which provides flights for World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington DC. She is a proud wife of a former submariner from Cold War days.
